“I Am, Because We Are”

At MBUNTU MEDIA, our journey began with a profound appreciation for the African philosophy of ‘Ubuntu’ (South Africa) & ‘Mbuntu’ (East Africa). Even though we were born in the West, we are deeply inspired by the concept that 'I am because we are,' which reflects the interconnectedness and shared humanity of all people — an ethos introduced to us when we first arrived in Zimbabwe as young kids in 1992.

Mbuntu’ isn't just a philosophy; it's a way of life that encourages compassion, empathy, and a sense of collective responsibility. It's a reminder that our well-being is linked to the well-being of our community. This philosophy resonated with us on a profound level and guided us in shaping our company's values.

We sought to embody these principles in all of our productions. We believe in the power of stories to connect people, to promote understanding, and to inspire positive change. Our commitment to telling meaningful, compelling and inspirational stories is a testament to the values of Ubuntu/Mbuntu, and through our work, we aim to celebrate our shared humanity, embrace diversity, and foster a sense of belonging and inclusion.

At Mbuntu Media, we are dedicated to producing films and series that not only entertains and informs but also serves as a bridge between cultures and communities. We are proud to carry the spirit of Ubuntu/Mbuntu in our name and in our mission, and we invite you to join us on this inspiring journey of interconnectedness and shared humanity.
